Electronics Generalized

The use of electronics in the automotive world tends to generalize across all technologies. The spark ignition engine and the fuel supply of the latter is now done electronically; injection is managed by a computer to optimize the flow rate and the fuel injection time based on a whole series of parameters (air temperature and engine internal vacuum, external pressure, throttle position ...)

The automatic gearboxes finally a benefit to their complexity adaptive management to schedule use patterns "playing" on time shifting. The suspensions are also controlled electronically modifying their behavior according to the roughness of the road surface or driving choices of conductor: flexible for comfort or for stiffer sportivité.

The electronics also benefits safety (active safety) due to the implementation of many systems driving aids, like traction control systems. The motor provided with a drive system, the computer, by means of sensors, detects the wheel slip and accordingly makes the transition from a two-wheel transmission with four wheels, by distributing the torque to the set of roues. The Bosch is also developing the ABS system (for "Anti-Blocking System" or "Antiblockiersystem") to prevent the wheels from lock when braking important.

Finally, for the years 1970-1980, the development of automobiles is mainly through computer design tools. It says "Computer Aided Design" (CAD)
