In the late twentieth century, the automobile has become fully part of society. Developed countries dénombrent about a car per capita density that is not without problems. Thus, since the 1970, the car has proved somewhat controversial, mainly because of its negative impact on the environment and road safety issues at the root of one of the leading causes of mortality in the population of these pays.
States implement severe measures against speeders, granting the right to punish or police on the spot to remove the license of a motorist. Security measures will also be taken in the design of automobiles, to reduce the rate of mortalité.
At the beginning of the twenty-first century, an international movement called Carfree ("freed from the car") was born. This supports the development of car-free cities and promotes examples of car-free neighborhoods like Vauban in Freiburg im Breisgau. This move is part of an anti-car activism increasingly virulent. The perception of the car seems to start a real change. Buying a vehicle loses its character and statutaire are emerging solutions carsharing, carpooling, or even self-service vehicles with a subscription in large métropoles. |
