New Body
The twenty-first century is also characterized by the diversification of body types. Previously, the ranges of automotive manufacturers were limited to sedans to wagons, coupes, cabriolets, etc.. Face greater competition and internationalized, automakers are trying to innovate "mixing" the kinds of vehicles. The first body end of this new trend is the Sport utility vehicle (SUV). It is adapted 4x4 all-terrain use more urban. Crossovers, the Nissan Qashqai is the best-known, are designed to attract as many customers as SUV sedans offering comparable benefits to both bodies. SUV and Crossover are also very popular in the United States.
German manufacturers are among the most prolific builders in this area. Mercedes launches in 2004 sedan 5-door coupe, the CLS, Volkswagen unveiled the 2008 Passat sedan version "cut-comfort" and BMW began the same year, sales of 4x4's cut, the BMW X6.
