To The Car Without Oil
Experts seem to agree that oil resources will be depleted. In 1999, the share of road transport in the world consumption was 41%. Due to the growth of some Asian countries such as China, the fuel consumption will inevitably increase significantly while production will fall. In the near future, the road may be deeply upset especially as alternatives to gasoline are currently more expensive and less performantes. Automakers must therefore develop vehicles capable of moving without oil. However, current solutions have a very favorable performance and environmental performance discutable.

To reduce the environmental impact of regulations more stringent encourage automakers to develop engines with reduced consumption, or to sell hybrid vehicles like Toyota with the Prius, pending the possibility of building a clean car. These hybrids use a conventional internal combustion engine which are adjoint one or more batteries supplying one or more electric motors. In addition, many manufacturers are moving toward electricity as a future source of energy for future cars. Some vehicles, such as the Tesla Roadster and the Nissan Leaf are already powered solely by electricity. |
